Locate your current measurements by looking at the inside of the temples (arms) of your glasses. Glasses measurements usually appear as three numbers separated by dashes – for example, 48-19-140. These numbers represent your lens width, bridge width, and temple length of your glasses. Keep these numbers in mind as you shop for new eyewear. Similar numbers will provide a similar fit.

Guide: Choosing the Perfect Frames
Finding the perfect eyewear can be challenging. This helpful guide will help you understand eyewear measurements, general sizing, and other important considerations as you shop for new eyewear. Let's start with key eyewear measurements.
Eyewear - Key Measurements:
Lens Width (Eye Size): This is the horizontal width of each lens at its widest point and is typically the first number listed on the inside of the frame's arm. It usually ranges from 40 mm to 60 mm.
Bridge Width: This measures the shortest distance between the two lenses, where the frame rests on the nose. It typically ranges from 14 mm to 24 mm
Temple Length (Arm Length): This is the length of the frame's arm, measured from the hinge to the tip that goes behind your ear. Common lengths range from 120 mm to 150 mm.
Eyewear - General Size Categories:
- Small Frames: Typically have a lens width of 50mm or less.
- Medium (Average) Frames: Often have a lens width between 51 mm and 54 mm.
- Large Frames: Generally feature a lens width of 55 mm or more.
How to Determine Your Frame Size:
Check Current Glasses: If your current glasses fit well, you can usually find the measurements printed on the inside of the temple (arm). The numbers represent lens width, bridge width, and temple length (e.g., 48-19-140).
Measure Your Face: Use a ruler to measure your face for the appropriate frame width, bridge width, and temple (arm) length.
Consult an Optician: A professional can accurately measure your face and recommend the best-fitting frames for you. This is especially important for prescription lens wearers.
Other Important Considerations:
Face Shape: Different frame shapes complement different face shapes. Look at your face and pick a frame that best compliments your features.

- Round faces suit rectangular or square frames
- Square faces benefit from round or oval frames
- Heart-shaped benefit from browline or rimless frames
- Oval faces can generallly pull off any frame style
Bridge Fit: The bridge of the frame should fit comfortably on your nose.
Temple Fit: The arms should be long enough to extend behind your ears comfortably.
Frame Width and Face Width: The overall width of the frame should be slightly wider than your face – no more than a finger width between the template and your face. Any wider than this is a sign that your frames are too wide.
